Sebastian and his buddy, Caden, trick or treating
Noah, the little pumpkin
This year Sebastian learned the true meaning of Halloween, candy. He's not too keen on costumes, in fact we ended up not going trick or treating last year because he refused to wear his costume, so this year we went with something tried and true, the Home Depot apron and the Lowes hat. I had picked up a great lion costume at a consignment sale, complete with paws, mane, tail and round belly. Unfortunately Sebastian wasn't impressed. When I pulled it out to show him that it had a mane he replied, "But I'm not a lion, I'm a boy. I already have hair" and then proceeded to list all the body parts that he already had and didn't need from a costume. I thought I had him when I pointed out the tail but he quickly informed me that he was growing a tail. So we went with something he was already comfortable wearing. I was surprised by how many comments he received about his costume. Just a reminder to me to go homemade, if possible.
Noah did the obligatory first-Halloween pumpkin costume, sans adorable pumpkin hat. The hat did not make it home, even after a second attempt and special trip to my sister's just for the hat (which proceeded to fall out of my pocket into her driveway) so it was not meant to be. He was a pretty darn cute pumpkin just the same (like his brother and cousin, Teya, before him).
Sebastian is getting down to the last of his Halloween candy now (with a little help from mom and dad). He's enjoyed getting into his candy bag for potty treats, as well as gorging himself when I forgot to put it back up and left him alone with it while putting Noah down from a nap. I found him with a mouth full of gum. He proceeded to tell me that he'd eaten lots of candy, the wrapper evidence in the trash backed him up, and that he was getting a sick tummy. I'm not sure if he actually felt sick, he didn't act like it, or if he was just repeating what he'd probably heard me say a few times. At any rate, the candy will soon be gone and he'll just be left with an empty pumpkin bucket and memories of easy and abundant candy. Something to look forward to next year.

Snips and snails and puppy dog tails
There seems to be an undeniable attraction between little boys and messes. Mine have been doing a wonderful job of getting dirty, and having a lot of fun while they're at it. Sebastian was thrilled to play in the sad, little mud puddles that formed in our driveway after the first rain in over a month!!! And Noah was quiet for just a little too long, causing me to wonder just exactly what he was up to. What he was up to was chowing down on a blue crayon. As you can see, he was delighted with the results. Fortunately for me, they both love bath time so clean up isn't too much work.

Just over a year ago...

Noah came 10 weeks early, weighing 2 lbs and was 13.5 inches long. This is the first picture taken, while still in the operating room. He's come a long way and we thank God for such a healthy, happy little guy.

Happy Birthday!
I can't really get this blog started without mentioning one of the biggest events that happened recently (okay, 2 months ago, but by Rachel's time that's not that long ago :) On August 9th, Noah turned 1! We had a lot of fun celebrating at Coolidge Park with lots of family and friends, many whom were so helpful and kind a year ago when Noah decided to make his early entrance into the world. Happy Birthday little man!
Thanks to our friend, Claudette Andrews, who took so many great pictures at the party.

Welcome to our blog!
I probably should have started this a year ago, when Noah was first born, but I guess this is as good a time as any. So hopefully I'll be keeping everyone who cares up to date with what's happening in our oh-so-exciting lives.
